This historic image from 1955, depicted a photo shoot in progress, one in which Communicable Disease Centers (CDC) staff parasitologist, Dr. Mae Melvin can be seen crouching beside her dog named Petunia, while two staff photographers were positioned in the extreme foreground. This shoot would create imagery to be used in teaching aids pertaining to the study of parasitology, and presumably, parasites that could be transmitted from canines to humans.
