Caption:
This photograph shows a patient who displayed a skin condition known as tinea versicolor, which involved the skin of the chest, due to the yeast organism, Malassezia furfur. Usually, this yeast grows sparsely without causing a rash. In some individuals, however it grows more actively for reasons unknown. This results in pale brown flaky patches on the trunk, neck, or arms.
