This historic 1945 image was from the early beginnings of the Communicable Disease Center, the forerunner of the modern-day Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The picture depicted what had been the interior of a laboratory, which had been located at 291 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, Georgia. The scenario showed Aimee Wilcox assisting former Laboratory Director, Dr. Seward Miller, who was conducting microscopic analyses on unidentified specimens.
