This image depicted an entomologist, who at the time, was engaging with local Kosraean children, as he was teaching them about mosquitoes. He was in the process of sampling larvae he had gathered from standing water, adding them to containers he would bring back to his laboratory. He would later check these, and other larvae, in order to determine if they would mature into Zika-carrying mosquitoes. This activity was taking place on the island of Kosrae, one of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), during the island’s Zika outbreak.
