This image depicts a view of a patient’s knees, revealing what is known as a Charcot joint, affecting the left knee, also referred to as neuropathic arthropathy, which was the result of a case of tertiary syphilis. This patient sustained progressive destruction, degeneration, and disorganization of the knee joint, resulting from a loss of sensation caused by long standing tabes dorsalis.
