This image from 1937, depicted the legs of a bedridden bubonic plague patient, who was located in Reno, Nevada. The primary ulcer can be seen at the site of a flea bite on the patient’s right medial calf. The photograph was donated from the collection of immunologist, Dr. Karl Friedrich Meyer.
