Entitled, “Illuminating Patient Risk”, this photograph depicted a medical dummy that was being examined under ultraviolet light, for the presence of fluorescent microbeads, used as markers, during an operating room simulation of an open-chest surgery. This study was conducted, in order to evaluate how potentially infectious material, represented by these beads, moves in the air, from a contaminated medical device, over to the patient, during an operation.
