Caption:
At a magnification of 200X, this was a photomicrograph of a fresh sputum specimen, under phase contrast illumination. The specimen was extracted from a patient with a case of geotrichosis, caused by the fungal organism, Geotrichum candidum. In this view, you were able to see numerous arthrospores with straight, or rounded ends, which had resulted from the segmentation of hyphal filaments.
