Caption:
Under a magnification of 970X, this photomicrograph of a lactophenol blue-stained specimen, revealed ultrastructural morphology exhibited by a Syncephalastrum sp. fungal organism. In this view, you can see a filamentous sporangiophore, which was topped by a globose sporangium. This sporangiophore and its sporangium was at a more mature stage, than the sporangiophore depicted in PHIL 22831. Structures known as merosporangia, were projecting from the central vesicle, and gave rise to chains of round sporangiospores, also known as merospores.
