This photograph was captured in 2011, when the photographer was conducting a water, sanitation and hygiene, or WASH study, in the town of Kisumu, located in Western Kenya, in order to determine the feasibility of providing WASH education, in maternal and child health (MCH) facilities. Gazing out the window, possibly contemplating the future of her unborn infant, this woman was in labor, while inside this clinic near Kisumu.
