Captured in June 2017, this image depicted a Mexican woman in the process of entering the United States, while in her vehicle. Her dog, also seen in the photograph, a Labrador mix, was accompanying her across the border. She had presented the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer, a copy of her Dog License Application & Rabies Certificate, which had been issued by the County of San Diego-Animal Services Division, as proof that her pet was up-to-date on his rabies vaccinations. This certificate is a required document, in order to grant travelers crossing into the U.S. with their pets, permission to enter the country. This activity was taking place at what is known as the Tecate Port of Entry, located in Tecate, California.
