This 2016 image depicts a stack of cardboard cartons, each containing 6, 12oz. bottles of OFF® mosquito repellant, the active ingredient of which is DEET (diethyltoluamide). A bottle of OFF® was placed into each of the Zika Prevention Kits (PHIL 22665 and 22666) compiled by staff members of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), which also included a larvicide (PHIL 22668), mosquito netting (PHIL 22673), condoms, a digital thermometer (PHIL 22670), and educational materials (PHIL 22667, and 22669). The contents of each kit was useful in preventing the transmission of the Zika virus both from mosquitoes to humans, and through human-to-human contact.

CDC’s SNS personnel assembled and delivered approximately 31,000 Zika Prevention Kits throughout U.S. territories. Learn more about the Strategic National Stockpile by clicking the link below.
