Under a magnification of 900X, this photomicrograph of a liver smear tissue sample, revealed the presence of spirochete bacteria of the genus, Leptospira, in a case of leptospirosis. The sample was originally stained with Giemsa stain, but was restained with a silver stain, in order to better visualize the spirochetes.
