This illustration identifies the pecten, located on the terminal abdominal segment of an Aedes sp. mosquito larva. There may be a row of closely set teeth, or spines on each side of the siphon, near the ventral margin, otherwise known as a pectin. Aedes aegypti is a vector for the Dengue virus, as well as yellow fever.
