This image depicted a close view of a patient’s scalp, revealing a condition diagnosed as a case of tinea capitis, or ringworm, a dermatophytosis, or fungal infection, which was caused by the fungal organism from the genus, Microsporum. Note the characteristic moist, erythematous appearance of this cutaneous lesion.
