Caption:
Under a magnification of 475X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the histopathologic features exhibited by an equine hair shaft, which had been harvested from an animal infected by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton equinum. In this case, the infection was classified as an endothrix, being that the chains of conidia were seen located within the confines of the hair shaft’s interior.
