This image depicted a posterior view of a dog’s buttocks, which revealed the presence of a cutaneous lesion on the tail base, that had become crusty, and devoid of overlying hair. This lesion was diagnosed as a dermatophytosis, and was due to an infection caused by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Microsporum canis.
