Description: Caption:
Under a magnification of 125X, this photomicrograph of a liver tissue parenchymal specimen, revealed histopathologic changes due to a case of acute infectious hepatitis. Important findings included a loss of the normal lobular hepatic cytoarchitecture, a phenomenon referred to as lobular disarray, ballooning degeneration of liver hepatocytes indicative of liver cell death, and canalicular cholestasis, or obstruction of bile flow through the small canals in the parenchyma.
