Caption:
This photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural details exhibited by this dermatophytic fungal organism, which was a species of Arthroderma, labeled strain ARK-17. This was one of the organism’s cleistothecia, enclosed by a densely interwoven layer known as a peridium, composed of peridial hyphae, and containing numerous asci. See PHIL 22192, for another look at this entire cleistothecium.
