Caption:
Under a magnification of 375X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by a dermatophytic fungal organism, which was a species of Arthroderma, labeled strain ARK-17. This was one of the organism’s cleistothecia, enclosed by a densely interwoven layer known as a peridium, composed of peridial hyphae, and containing numerous asci. See PHIL 22193, for a closer look at the wall of this cleistothecium.
