Under a magnification of 1800X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Pseudoarachniotus echinulatus, also known as Amauroascus echinulatus. Here, you can see two asci, as well as a number of echinulate ascospores, which were covered by what are termed prickles, or very small spines.
