This Petri dish culture plate contained a growth medium of Sabouraud dextrose agar, which had been inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism, Epidermophyton floccosum, and after having been incubated for an undisclosed time period, gave rise to this single fungal colony. The characteristic colonial morphology, included its suede-like texture, raised, folded central region, and white punctate regions, composed of pleomorphic mycelial tufts.
