Under a magnification of 522X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton tonsurans. Note the numerous, teardrop-shaped microconidia, attached to, and branching perpendicularly from the filamentous, elongated, hyphae, and small, elongated, developing macroconidia, emanating from the distal tips of these same hyphae.
