This 1964 image, depicted a rural area known as Malpica, located on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, in the Rio Grande municipality. The photograph was captured during one of the island’s schistosomiasis studies, conducted by the Puerto Rican public health department. In this location, all infected streams and homes were included in the study.
