Caption:
This image depicted a right lateral view of a Malabar squirrel, also known as an Indian giant squirrel, Ratufa indica. This specimen had been a resident of the New York Zoo, and had contracted a dermatophytic fungal infection, as evidenced by the cutaneous lesion on it right forelimb (red arrowhead). The organism responsible for this infection was determined to be Microsporum vanbreuseghemii.
