This photograph depicted a view of a patient’s scalp, who had presented to a clinical setting, exhibiting symptoms of a condition known as tinea capitis, a type of ringworm, that had been caused by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Microsporum nanum. Symptoms included dry, flakey, itchy scalp skin, along with hair loss over the site of the cutaneous lesion.
