This image depicted a frontal view of a Petri dish culture plate that contained a growth medium of Sabouraud dextrose agar, which was growing a single, large colony of the fungal organism, Sporotrichum schenckii, also known as Sporothrix schenckii. Note the colony’s characteristic wrinkled surface, and the variety of colors commonly seen in this genus, including cream, and dark-brown to black.
