This 1961 photograph, depicted a public health scientist in the process of explaining an exhibit, produced in order to explain the laboratory techniques involved in the isolation of the poliovirus. The image was captured during the dedication ceremony of what at the time, was this newly constructed, Public Health Service’s (PHS), Communicable Disease Center (CDC), Field Station, located in Kansas City, Kansas.
