Depicted in this image was a glass microscope slide, upon which an unstained, properly-prepared thick film blood smear had been performed. Note the smooth texture, clean lines, and proper depth of this smear. In this case, this thick film smear was rectangular in its final shape, and properly placed on this slide, to the far left.
