Depicted in this image was a glass microscope slide, upon which a thick film blood smear had been attempted on the left. The resultant smear had been improperly dried, resulting in pooling of the film, rendering the product unacceptable. See PHIL 21550, for a good example of how both thin, and thick film blood smears should appear on the glass slide, after undergoing processing.
