This image depicted two anteroposterior (AP) chest x-rays, which revealed the pathologic changes in a patient’s lung fields due to a condition known as mycoplasma pneumonia, caused by a Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacterial infection. Note the consolidation of right lower lung infiltrates in the x-ray on the left, as well as the bilateral hilar adenopathy. You can also see a resolution of these pathologic changes after the patient’s recovery in the x-ray displayed on the right. See PHIL 21523, for a view of this patient’s lungs early on in the disease process, revealing findings indicative of bilateral lower lobe pulmonary infiltrates, and bilateral hilar adenopathy.
