Caption:
This image depicted a close view of the sole of a patient’s foot, which revealed the presence of a maculopapular rash, that turned out to be lesions caused by a case of chickenpox, caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), also known as Human herpesvirus 3 (HHV-3). Note that the lesions in this crop, were in various stages in development, some in their fluid-filled, vesicular form, while others having entered their crusty stage, and were covered by a scab.
