This image depicts a close view of a Guinea pig’s, Cavia porcellus coat, the animal having been infected with the dermatophytic fungal organism Trichophyton simii. The lesion had caused total hair loss, down to, and through the raw, highly-inflamed cutaneous layers, exposing the underlying myofascial layers.
