Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the histopathologic details exhibited by this section of lung tissue, harvested from a premature infant, who had died shortly after birth. Depicted here, was a mycotic chronic inflammatory granule. At this magnification, higher than that viewed in PHIL 21372, the fungal organisms around which this granule developed, appeared as pink-colored, septate filaments.
