This photograph depicted a Petri dish culture plate containing an unknown growth medium, upon which a colony of Basidiobolus meristosporus fungal organisms had been cultivated. This colony, covered by fine, powdery, white surface mycelium, had taken on an overall roughened appearance, and its periphery had become folded, or ruffled. The colony also displayed a characteristic creamy coloration. B. meristosporus is also referred to, as B. ranarum.
