Under a magnification of 1700X, this Gram-stained impression smear specimen, revealed a number of Gram-positive, Streptococcus pneumoniae diplococcal bacteria, which were amongst some other cellular debris. This specimen was harvested from a Rhesus monkey with pneumococcal meningitis.
