This was a photomicrograph of a section of bone, which had been extracted from a patient, who had been afflicted with rickets. It revealed, how after having been placed on a therapeutic treatment regimen, the bone’s mineralization process had been restarted within the cartilaginous matrix of the zone of endochondral ossification. Note the presence of the irregularly shaped, more darkly stained developing trabeculae, within the region known as the physis, located between the distal epiphysis, and proximal metaphysis.
