Caption:
This is a photomicrograph of a liver tissue specimen that had been harvested from a patient, who had been ill with a case of liver cirrhosis, more specifically, Laennec's cirrhosis, whereupon, a loss of normal lobular hepatocellular architecture, was replaced by fibrotic changes. Though Laennec's cirrhosis can be caused by dietary protein deficiency, as well as chronic alcoholism, the cause in this case was not noted.
