This photomicrograph depicted the histopathologic appearance of what was a tissue sample extracted from a patient’s thyroid gland, diagnosed with was a case of endemic colloid nodular goiter. Note that the abnormal tissue showed some of the classic cytoarchitectural changes indicative of colloid nodular goiter, including the irregular sized follicles, as well as an irregularity to the thickness of the follicular epithelium. In this view, you could see a number of foci of epithelial hyperplasia.
