These two photographs depicted the histologic appearance of what was a tissue sample extracted from a normal thyroid gland on the left, and at right, a thyroid gland diagnosed with what was a case of colloid nodular goiter (RT). Note that under these low-power magnifications, the abnormal tissue at right, showed some of the classic cytoarchitectural changes indicative of colloid nodular goiter, including the irregular sized follicles, as well as an irregularity to the thickness of the follicular epithelium, from flattened, to hypertrophic.
