Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the histopathologic changes found in this methenamine silver-stained lung tissue specimen, in a case of zygomycosis, which had been caused by an organism of phylum of fungi known as Zygomycota. Note that small, darkly stained fragments of mycelial filaments could be seen throughout this tissue specimen.
