This image depicted an ulcerative region within a child’s intergluteal cleft, which included the boy’s the anus and perineum. This patient also had another ulcerative lesion on his left lateral upper arm (see PHIL 21138). These lesions had been attributed to a condition known as pyoderma gangrenosum. However, the upper arm lesion returned a positive finding of an accompanying pseudomonas infection.
