This photomicrograph revealed some of the histopathologic changes found in a case of subcutaneous phycomycosis, a form of zygomycosis, caused by an organism of phylum of fungi known as Zygomycota. Note that small fragments of mycelial filaments could be seen in this tissue specimen.
