Entitled, “Ebola Screening”, this image was captured by CDC Health Scientist, Victor Balaban, PhD, with the Overseas Employment and Workforce Development (OEWD) team in the CGH OD. The image showed how Ebola screening was being conducted on passengers disembarking a ferry from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, in Tanzania. A non-contact thermometer is a way to take someone’s temperature without touching them, and temperature measurement is but one tool used to find out if a traveler might have Ebola. This photo earned Dr. Balaban a tie for the Third Place award in the 2015 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of “Ebola Outbreak” .
