Under a low magnification of 17X, this photomicrograph of a hematoxylin-eosin (H&E)-stained tissue sample, revealed the histopathologic changes, which manifested as a result of a tissue reaction to a blastomycosis infection, caused by the fungal organism, Blastomyces dermatitidis. This tissue reaction was primarily a granulomatous, or chronic inflammatory response, with an accompanying neutrophilic infiltrate. This kind of reaction has been termed pyogranulomatous inflammation.
