Under a magnification of 400X, this hematoxylin-eosin (H&E)-stained cutaneous tissue sample, revealed some of the histopathologic changes observed in a secondary syphilitic lesion, caused by the bacterial spirochete, Treponema pallidum. The image was a highly-magnified view of PHIL 20795.
