This image was captured during a gathering in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which included the Directorate of Diseases Control (DLM) of the DRC, Ministry of Health (MoH), Dr. Kebela Ilunga Benoit, and DLM senior staff, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Global Health Security (GHS) Team. Discussed, was the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA), and an introduction, and review of the MoH surveillance activities, and its DRC emergency response plan.

Representatives from the U.S. CDC, Atlanta, GA, traveled from November 30th to December 4th, 2015 to the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC), capital city of Kinshasa, to meet with U.S. Government staff, i.e., CDC-DRC, Embassy DRC, USAID, the DRC Ministry of Health (MoH) subject-matter experts (SME’s), and in-country partners, to introduce the GHSA, and engage in a series of discussions concerning the strengthening of the DRC’s public health systems, and priority areas for capacity development, in full support of the International Health Regulations (IHR).
