An anterior-oblique view of the same patient depicted in PHIL 20545, this image depicted a male Vietnamese bubonic plague patient’s torso, revealing a very large right inguinal bubo. Note how the skin overlying the swollen lymph node, had sloughed away, due to the extreme swelling beneath. Plague is caused by the bacterium, Yersinia pestis, and is spread to humans through the bite of an infected flea vector.
