Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph revealed some of the histopathologic details exhibited by a section of human lung tissue extracted from a patient with a case of coccidioidomycosis, also known as valley fever, caused by fungal organism, Coccidioides immitis. In this view, an epithelioid multinucleated giant cell could be seen in the center of the image, which contained two spherules.
