Caption:
This photomicrograph of a thin film human blood smear, extracted from a patient with a malarial infection, revealed the presence of a growing, Plasmodium ovale trophozoite (lower right), which was contained inside an oval-shaped red blood cell (RBC), stippled with Schüffner's dots. In the upper left you’ll see a white blood cell containing numerous, prominently-stained granules.
